Summer Youth Woodworking and Video Production Employment at 6018North
1. Wood working – learn how to woodwork to build seating, doors, walls etc.
2. Video filming and editing – learn how to shoot and edit video
3. Assist 4 artists with their projects for Chicago’s first International Architecture Biennale (October 2015) in spaces at 6018North and on the South and West side.
4. Blogging – update 6018North’s social media about exhibitions
5. Create a short video documentary of your process in learning woodworking and assisting with artists' exhibitions.

- Payment: 9 dollars an hour, 21 hours a week, 12 weeks.
- Begins Thursday, June 18th.
- Help 6018North build 4 exhibitions for Chicago’s first International Architecture Biennale: Rodrigo Lara Zendejas at 6018North; Amanda Williams at 62nd and State; Every House Has A Door at Comfort Station; and Sara Fitzsimons at Ostermann Beach. You will also assist building a project for EXPO Chicago. You will also learn video documenting to document, film, and post your construction process on 6018North’s website and social media. If you want to learn to make, build, and do, this opportunity is for you!
- Assist artists Bryan Saner and Rodrigo Lara Zendejas to construct windows, doors, and seating within 6018North
- Learn how to shoot camera with an i-pad and edit film with artist Kirsten Leenaars
- Document the process of preparing these exhibitions
- Edit video with Zachary Hutchinson
- Regularly post updates to 6018North’s social media linking the projects together
- Gather information from Rodrigo Lara Zendejas, Amanda Williams, Lynn Hixson (Every House Has A Door) and Sara Fitzsimons for press releases, documentation, film, and gallery guides.
- Interview artists for press and for 6018North’s website.
- Draft initial press releases about the 4 exhibitions.
- Final project is to create a video documentary (stop gap film) of the artistic process of creating work for Chicago’s first International Architecture Biennale.
